The Ask

Create a brand for a fast-growing custom cabinets business. The cabinets are build by Amish craftsman using the highest quality local materials in the Midwest. The direction of the brand should feel edgy and less traditional than the local competitors.

The holding device seen being used throughout the brand is a nod to the traditional cabinet silhouette, with the classic countertop overhang and the inset kick plate at the bottom. Pairing this sharp and precise shape with a bold, industrial font, conveys the overarching theme of locally sourced quality cabinets that are meticulously assembled and built to last.

Customer Experience

If you’re planning a renovation, its expected that you will be spending a lot of money for a quality finished product. Unfortunately, like many other trades, consumers find themselves make important decisions on things they don’t fully understand. Stout Cabinets wants to share their knowledge with their clients. One way of doing that is sending material packets to potential customers that include a piece of wood, along with all the information you would need about that specific species. This helps pick the right wood and the right stain for your project, resulting in a confident and trusting relationship between client and business.

The Message

Most cabinet businesses focus on the idea of “Quality Craftsmanship” as their key differentiator. For this brand and others like it, we felt that went without saying. We wanted to approach the message from a different angle so we focused in on a couple key points: First, is the idea of sourcing quality, long-lasting materials, locally. And to further tell that story, we talk about the things you can’t see– The strength and durability of each species of wood, and this idea that Amish-built cabinets have a specific look and style.
